Drug Overdoses going into 2018
Since 1999, 200,000 people have died from overdoses connected to OxyContin, and similar prescription drugs. 64,000 people have died in drug overdose last year, that's more people that AIDS, car accidents, and gun violence. The crisis puts most pain clinics and Hospitals in a tough situation. On one hand you have people that are in chronic pain and can't go without medication. On the other hand you have people that become addicted to opioids and eventually overdose or ruin their lives.
Two Sides to the Opioid Patients
If you're reading this I want you to understand that I know prescription medication is used to treat chronic pain, and I know that it works really well. Thomas Kline MD, Phd argues that when you refuse to treat intractable pain it becomes morally corrupt.

The Drug Epidemic in 2018
This drug epidemic is becoming a big thing, “according to woodtv.com” the drug epidemic in 2015 cost about $504 billion that's half a trillion dollars. This total cost includes money that's given to health-care, and the criminal justice systems that houses and does treatment programs for patients with addictions.
This is going to be real tense battle because everyone is speaking up about opioids, but will the actual number of fatalities be lower than the years before to show improvement. It's time to pay attention to the usage and overdoses that these synthetic drugs are causing. If you have had experiences with opioids please leave a comment and have a conversation with me.
